Essential Tool: 10-Second Introduction

Introducing…the next tool in your basic marketing toolbox!

I know, this sounds a bit specific. It doesn’t have to be EXACTLY 10 seconds. It’s just a ballpark number (and a way to differentiate it from the longer intro coming up in the next tool).

A 10-second introduction is handy:

  • When someone asks what you do for a living,
  • When you get the chance to introduce yourself at a networking or other meeting (and more than a name and company name are permitted), or
  • When you’re doing some cold (or warm) calling.

A 10-second introduction is pretty quick—about 20-35 words. (It’ll vary based on the word length and your speaking speed.)

Depending on the situation, you might be able to use part of your clear description of services for this introduction. Just tack your name and company name at the start of it, and you’re set.

Here’s an example:

Hi, I’m Bonnie Boden from Blue Denim Digital. I’m a marketing coach who helps service-based solopreneurs get unstuck when it comes to marketing so they can get their message out and get more clients.

YOUR TURN!

Please post your 10-second introduction below and I’ll get you some feedback to let you know if it feels clear to me.

Feel free to ask questions about this topic if you have them.

As always, let me know if there are any parts you’re struggling with (either with what you’ve already written, or in figuring out what to write) and let’s see if we can get rid of the struggle so you can finish this up and move on to the next step.
